WHAT IS NETWORK


Network security is a part of computer science and it is basically securing our networks from un-authorized access, network misuse, data theft, and device and data modification. Also network security introduces defense methods and new mechanisms to protect data and information from external or internal threats.


             BASIC NETWORK SECURITY

Now we know network security is very important. To build a well-developed network security system there should be a good understanding among security technology developers and developers of networks. Network is based on Open System Interface (OSI) model. When creating a network we follows different types of protocols too.
When developing a good network system it should fulfill following requirements.

In the presence we are dealing with massive and more sensitive data and information. And also industrial needs and wants also have grown up. So when exchanging sensitive data and information can not done in manually. So we use networks. But when dealing with networks we should be more care on them. Because today the technology also well developed and nothing cannot do. So network security is more important in their reasons.
Not only that by using a network we can share hardware software too. So we can use network security to protect our hardware software from network attacks like viruses, worms, etc.

 Protect data

Now a days networks also have inter connected and they contain a lot of sensitive and private data such as personal or client’s data etc. If anyone attacks to a network then it will be harmful for these sensitive data so a network security helps to protects data and information from unauthorized access.
 Prevents cyber attack

Today the largest network of the world is internet and most of attacks also comes from internet. There are many virus attacks and peoples who are experts in hacking and they can access the information and can do anything what they want.so network security can protects computers from these harmful attacks.


Levels of access

There are different levels of access to different users in security software.
Authentication of these users are done by authorization techniques in security system in the network. The software clearly knows which resources are accessible by whom and these are controlled by network security system.

Centrally controlled

Network security software are controlled by a central user called network administrator.so it is not likely desktop security software. So it is helps to prevent from worms and virus attacks, also can prevent from hackers before they damage anything. Here network security software is installed in a machine which have no internet.
Centralized updates

When we using anti-virus software we have to update it timely. Because an old versions may not provide security against attacks. But when we using a network security system it is no need to update them individually as they provide centralized offers for everyone who use the system. Also it helps to anyone who has not any knowledge of updating software.


 PROBLEMS IN NETWORK SECURITY


 Costly set up

Building a network security system is more expensive. We have to spend money on purchasing software, installing, maintaining etc. Large networks store massive data and it will also costly and securing them too. But we cannot ignore any cost of them.


 Time consuming

It is difficult to work with some software program established on networks. It desires authentication the use of passwords to ensure double protection which must be entered each time you edit a record. It additionally requires the passwords to be precise with numbers, special characters and alphabets. The person have to type different kind a number of sample passwords to finalize a better one.
 Requires skilled staff

Managing a large network is not easy. So it needed more skilled technicians to handle the systems when security issues arises. The network administrator should be more knowledgeable and should able to control others also. Employees must be trained adequately to meet the necessary requirements.
